What are workflows in Polydata?
Workflows automate translations in your Shopify store. They let you decide what gets translated, when it happens, and how it’s done using AI. Once set up, translations run automatically whenever your content changes.
What content types can I automate translations for?
Polydata currently supports:
Products (including metafields)
Collections (including metafields)
Metaobjects
Theme translation automation is not yet available — but it’s coming soon.
How do I create a new workflow?
Go to Apps → Polydata → Workflows.
Click Create Workflow.
Select a resource type (e.g. Product or Collection).
Set your trigger to “On Update.”
Choose your language model and target languages.
Select the fields to translate (e.g. Title, Description, Metafields).
Save and set the workflow to Active.
How do I choose which products get translated?
You can control this with tags or metafields.
For example, only products tagged with translate_description will trigger translations.
Once the translation completes, Polydata can automatically remove the tag.
Which AI translation models can I use?
You can connect multiple models, including DeepL, ChatGPT, or Gemini.
This allows you to use the best AI for different content types or languages.
How can I check or review translations?
Polydata doesn’t currently include a built-in translation overview interface.
We recommend using Shopify’s Translate & Adapt app to review and adjust translations after they’re generated.
This provides a visual way to verify the results inside Shopify.
What are best practices for setting up workflows?
Use separate workflows per market or language.
Keep prompts consistent for brand tone.
Avoid overlapping triggers.
Review translations periodically with Translate & Adapt.
Can I edit or pause a workflow?
Yes. You can edit, pause, or delete any workflow at any time from the Workflows dashboard.
My translations aren’t appearing — what should I check?
Confirm your workflow is Active.
Verify that the correct tags or metafields are applied.
Make sure your source and target languages are set correctly.
Ensure your AI model has translation access.
If all looks correct, try running the workflow manually or checking logs for recent activity.
Can I create different workflows for each language?
Yes. You can create one workflow per market or target language.
For example, one for English, one for French, and one for German — each with its own AI model or translation rules.
